Frequently asked questions
What is Nyxtune?
Nyxtune is an iPhone sleep diary app based on the sleep diary used in CBT-I (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia). Each morning you log bedtime, wake time, how long it took to fall asleep, and how often and how long you woke up, then review charts of your sleep time and time to fall asleep. It is developed by suplum.
Who is it for?
People who have trouble falling asleep, wake up during the night, or have had a run of sleepless nights, and who want to see their actual sleep pattern by keeping a diary. It also suits people who prefer not to use a smartwatch or other device.
Can I do CBT-I with an app on my own?
The sleep diary is the foundation of CBT-I, and Nyxtune is built to help you keep it. Nyxtune is not a medical device and does not replace CBT-I from a clinician. Make large changes to your sleep schedule, such as sleep restriction, with a professional.
Is Nyxtune a medical device?
No. Nyxtune is not a medical device and does not diagnose any condition. It is a tool for recording and reviewing your sleep habits. If poor sleep continues for weeks or affects your daytime life, see a doctor.
Do I need a smartwatch or other wearable?
No. Nyxtune does not measure your sleep with a device. You fill in a sleep diary each morning from memory. You don't keep your phone in bed, and it does not record sound while you sleep.
What if I don't remember exact times?
Rough estimates are fine. What matters in a sleep diary is keeping it every day and seeing the trend over weeks.
Is the screen bright if I open it at night?
Nyxtune uses a dark color scheme designed to be easy on the eyes at night.
How much does it cost?
Free to download. All features except initial setup require a paid auto-renewing subscription (Nyxtune Core). Check the App Store listing for current pricing in your country. You can export your records and delete your account without a subscription.
Where is my data stored?
Records and calculations are handled on your iPhone, so Nyxtune works offline. You can also export your records to a file. For details on how information is handled, see the app's privacy policy.
Which devices and languages are supported?
iPhone with iOS 15.0 or later. The app is available in English and Japanese. There is no Android version at this time.
